The Orinoquía region is the area of the vast Eastern Plains of Colombia, located beyond the Andean mountains in the north of the Amazon jungle. Here you will discover endless savannahs, special ecosystems with a diverse wildlife, important natural wealth, a special Llanero (Cowboy) culture, unique sunsets and marvelous landscapes over the immense plains. This region used to be one of the most underestimated regions of the country, being one of the least visited areas in the past, a fact that has helped to preserve its most representative ecosystems.
Here you’ll find some of the most surprising and emblematic natural marvels of the country, such as Caño Cristales, the Güejar river, the Cerros de Mavicure, several national parks like El Tuparro or La Macarena and important private protected areas like Hato La Aurora hold impressive ecosystems with endemic fauna and flora, rainbow river colors, imposing geological rock formations and rivers for all tastes and natural lovers.
The largest cities and of this region are Villavicencio and Yopal, where you can find modern hotels and accommodations for all budgets. In areas next to the many natural jewels mentioned, you can find lodging from very basic conditions at the indigenous territories, passing by basic cabins in the rural areas, to very comfortable eco-logdes depending on the destination to visit. This region has several airports all over the immense 126.000 square miles of plains where most of the connections are made by plane.
