The Amazon department (province/state) is located in the extreme south of Colombia. Leticia, its capital is an special important nature travel destination, rich in biodiversity and historically important for ancestral indigenous cultures.
Its mix between jungle and indigenous ancestral traditions makes an environment with diverse natural attractives crossed by the magnificent Amazon river in a region that was sacred for different native communities and has a high level of conservation with the chance to watch abundant endemic fauna.
(10:30) – Estimated arrival and welcome by our local team at Leticia airport (the flight hour might change depending on the airline schedule for that day), after that you will be transferred in private vehicles to Leticia and then to the KM11, where you will have lunch. You will be received by a local indigenous community and will spend the afternoon in their territory doing a trek towards “Takana” river where you will have the chance to fish with the locals. At night you will have dinner at the “Maloka” (indigenous house) and share moments with the elders of the community having a talk about their culture and cosmovision. The included accommodation will be in hammocks in the “Maloka” or optionally in a tree house with an extra-cost.
(07:00) – Breakfast at the “Maloka” and departure towards Leticia and transportation on boats on the Amazon river passing by the monkey island, then some indigenous communities of Macedonia before arriving to Puerto Nariño where you will have lunch. In the afternoon you will visit the Tarapoto lakes expecting to see the pink dolphins and the Lotus flower. By 4:00 PM you will be taken back towards Leticia and will spend the night in Onaira hostel in beds in private, double, triple or multiple rooms depending on the availability.
(05:30) – Breakfast in Leticia and the boat transportation towards the triple river border, where we will visit “Islandia (Perú)” and “Benjamin Constant (Brazil)” by taking the Yavarí River. By noon you will arrive to Sacambú (Perú) where you will have lunch and afterwards you will visit the Gamboa village in order to see fauna in rehabilitation process and fossils museum. In the late afternoon you will do an activity of Piranha fishing and then will have accommodation in local hotel of the area. At night you will have dinner and optional night hike to see alligators.
(05:00) – Optional early wake up in order to see birds and fauna in the area. By 7:00 AM the Breakfast will be ready at the hotel and then you will take a boat transportation on the Yavarí river and then the Amazon river in order to head back to Leticia where you will be taken by ground towards the airport for your flight.
