Casanare department (state) is located in the Orinoquía region of Colombia, in the eastern savannas of our country. A region where several natural private reserves are stablished in which is possible to observe an important fauna diversity and we can also experience and enjoy different activities with locals at the best “llanero” (Cowboy) style.
This is a land of unique sunsets, cowboys, myths, legends and incredible fauna specially with hundreds of bird species, reptiles such as the “Llanero” alligator, felines like the jaguar and the puma and endemic species of south America such as the particular Chigüiro (Capybara). This is an experience close to Yopal with easy access where depending on the season the conditions are more or less favorable to observe fauna and travel the roads.
(07:00) – Welcoming at Hato Berlín Natural Reserve (located 2 hours away from Yopal) where can get in your own car (which has to be a truck or a big car) or you can hire 4×4 transportation with us for the whole experience, in that case, we will pick you up at any point in the city of Yopal. Once at the reserve you will have a Safari walking or riding a horse at the reserve. Afterwards you will have lunch and later on, we will do a Safari in canoes by the river in order to look for aquatic species. At night you can chose between sleeping in rural cabins or a cheaper option in a hotel at Trinidad town.
(07:00) Breakfast and then we will head by unpaved roads to El Gran Llanerazo museum, where you will be welcomed by the host: Seudiel Gualteros, who is an authentic cowboy with many years of experience that made him win a national contest as the most skilled cowboy at the region. Seudiel will teach you about the “Llanero” (cowboy) culture, music and will show you archeological elements of extincted indigenous groups found at his property. You will have a traditional lunch and will observe fauna at his property before returning back to your accommodation where you will have dinner.
(07:00) Breakfast and after that we will head to El Encanto de Guanapalo Natural reserve, where we will start walking around the place observing wild fauna before having lunch. In the afternoon you will have lunch and after a Safari the car (your car or the car hired by the group) observing wild fauna at this reserve of 9.000 where you can spot several species of birds, the particular and endemic capybaras, caimans, deers, anacondas and with some luck pumas (the sightings can’t be assured but we will do the best effort). At the end of the day you will head to Yopal where our services will end.
