The Lost City is a sacred temple built by ancestors of the indigenous communities that now a days live in the area. This is one of the most important archaeological sites of Colombia, being even older than Macchu Picchu. This is a land of spiritual enchantment where tourism has allowed to help the local communities to protect and preserve this hidden gem in peace and harmony, generating also opportunities and income for the indigenous and rural communities there.
This is an experience designed for adventure-minded people with good physical conditions. The trek can be done in 4-, 5- or 6-days at any time of the year, except when the local indigenous authorities close the trail for spiritual purposes. On the way to the Lost City you will enjoy beautiful ecosystems, pristine rivers and great nature while immersing in the indigenous culture.
(07:30) – Pick up in Santa Marta in private 4×4 vehicles, then we will head up north to the sector of El Mamey, where after a briefing of all the trek, you will have lunch. Afterwards you will start a hike of 7.6 Kms to Adán’s cabin passing by several wells and natural freshwater pools from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta ending the day by resting in beds or hammocks (depending on the availability) and having dinner in the Adán’s cabin.
(06:00) – Breakfast and subsequently start of the trek of the day (8 kms in total) where you will first pass by the Wiwa indigenous community camp and then you will have lunch. After that you will have a trek bordering Mutanyi, which is an indigenous Kogui village in order to continue the trek to get that afternoon to the camp-site 2 where you will have dinner and will rest in beds or hammocks (depending on the availability). This day represents the major difference with the 5-days tour doing the trail till Paraíso Teyuna in 2 days”.
(06:00) – Breakfast and subsequently start of the trek of the day (7 kms in total) where you first pass by the Wiwa indigenous community camp and then you will have lunch. After that you will have a trek crossing Buritaca river, which is sacred for locals and brings fresh water from Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, having lunch on the way in order to continue the trek to get that afternoon to Paraíso Teyuna camp where you will have dinner and will rest in beds or hammocks (depending on the availability).
(06:00) – Breakfast and subsequently start of the trek to the Ciudad Teyuna (Lost City) where you will ascent 1200 steps that lead to the terraces of our main destination, once there you will have time to enjoy the place and have lunch. After that you will head to the third station: Wiwa’s cabin, where you will have dinner and an opportunity to talk with indigenous people about their cosmovision and ancestral wisdom. Your accommodation will be in beds or hammocks (depending on the availability).
(06:00) – Breakfast and then a hike to the campsite 1: the Adán’s cabin in a hike of 6 kms in total where we will get to our destination spot and will have all the afternoon to rest, being received with the lunch and having to afternoon for relaxing in hammocks and having dinner at night. (this day represents the difference with the 4 days and the 5-days tours in which here you will have an easier and more relaxed way back to Santa Marta).
(06:00) – Breakfast and then a hike to some spots full of rivers, waterfalls and pools that are born in the Sierra Nevada in order to get to the starting point of the experience: El Mamey, where you will have lunch and afterwards you will be transferred in private vehicles to Santa Marta where you will be left in the place that you indicate us within the city.
