Mesetas and Lejanías municipalities in the department (state) of Meta, offer unique landscapes due to its strategical location in the middle of 3 national parks: La Macarena, Los Picachos and Sumapaz. This location makes the region a special biodiversity spot with very well-preserved ecosystems also with abundant hydric resources in a destination that is crossed by a special turquoise-color like river: the Güejar river and several beautiful and imposing waterfalls all over the region.
This was a region known in the past for the presence of irregular armed groups, but now local tourism and agro-ecological projects are showing a different face of a region with a huge natural potential and easy access by road from Bogotá. When you go to the Güejar river region you are supporting projects of peace building and farmers in the region.
(10:30) – Meeting in the main plaza of Mesetas town, where the local guides will meet you and take you to the chosen hotel (The meeting time might change depending on the estimated hour of arrival to Mesetas). Once the group is ready, you will be taken in 4×4 vehicles towards La Argentina village, where you will have a waterfalls tour around this area getting to know local projects at the area run by farmers and having lunch with them. At the end of the afternoon you will be taken back to the hotel and will have dinner in the town of Mesetas.
(07:30) – Breakfast at the hotel and departure towards Gobernador village in 4×4 vehicles heading to Charco Azul. This attractive is run by former guerrilla combatants who are changing the image of the region and want to have alternative formal productive projects, there you will visit several waterfalls, canyons and even will get to know how they survived and moved in the jungle. At the place you will have lunch and, in the afternoon, you will be taken back to the hotel and will have dinner in Mesetas town.
(07:30) – Breakfast at the hotel and departure in 4×4 cars towards the attractive: Maravillas del Río Güejar. This attractive is run by coffee, avocado and cocoa farmers in the rural area of Lejanías town. This is a very fertile region in the upper part of the Güejar river where you can see special rock formations that shape the river and form natural pools, waterfalls and canyons offering amazing landscapes. There you will have typical lunch prepared with products from the region and in the afternoon will get back to the hotel.
(07:30) – Breakfast at the hotel and departure towards Caño Limón bridge, where after some previous indications you will start a 4-hours rafting activity down Güejar River, crossing the most famous spot of the area: The Güejar river canyon, where you will contemplate the magnificent rock formations of the area sculpted by the water in a soft level rafting activity. At the end of the activity you will enjoy a traditional lunch in rural area, and finally you will be taken back to Mesetas main plaza where our services will finish.
