(06:00) – Departure from Pereira or Santa Rosa de Cabal in 4×4 cars by unpaved roads that take you to Los Nevados National Park, then you will check-in at a cabin located at almost 4.000 m.a.s.l. (13.000 ft). Afterwards you will do an acclimatization trek towards Otún lake where you will have a travel lunch admiring this splendid water body. In the afternoon you will head back to the cabin, will have dinner and will go to bed early preparing your body for the next day adventure.
(02:00) – Preparation of the equipment for the summit attempt, then you will be taken by car till the beginning of the trek at 4.100 m.a.s.l. (13.450 ft) where after some instructions you will start the trek till the top of the mountain. You have to get to the top of the mountain located at 4.965 m.a.s.l. (16.300 ft) before 7:30 AM. After some moments at the top you will start the way back, having lunch at the cabin before heading back to your hotel in Pereira or Santa Rosa de Cabal. There is an option for an extra price of ending this day in hot-springs complexes at hotels near the area.
Nevado de Santa Isabel is a volcano that has a conic form which ends in a snow-capped layer on its peak being located in the majestic Los Nevados National Park which preserves important mountain ecosystems of the region. This is the most accessible snow-capped mountain peak in Colombia located near Pereira and Manizales at 4.965 m.a.s.l. (16.300 ft).
During this 2-days experience you will enjoy the landscapes of some of the highest mountains of Colombia. On the first day you will visit the splendid Otún lake, sleeping traditional cabins, on the second day you will wake up very early in the morning doing the trek to attempt to get to the summit of Nevado de Santa Isabel where you also will have a great panoramic of the whole National Park.
