Tour Details

This experience aims to show some of the best wildlife destinations in Colombia in the wet season of the country which in normal conditions starts on may and ends in november. This tour is designed for nature lovers, fauna photographers and all the ones that enjoy to be isolated in marvelous preserved ecosystems full of fauna surprises without sacrificing comfortability.

In this tour you will visit selected Colombian spots where fauna is abundant in diverse regions such as the Colombian Andes, the Eastern savannahs, the Amazon jungle & the Pacific coast of the country. You will also discover the two main cities of Colombia: Bogotá and Medellín, having a balance between nature and cities exploration.

Itinerary

DAY 1ARRIVAL IN BOGOTA.

– Reception at El Dorado airport & transfer to the hotel
– Check in at the hotel and lunch.
– Optional: Gold Museum visit & city tour around La Candelaria historical city center.
– Dinner at the hotel.

DAY 2SIECHA LAKES - CHINGAZA NATIONAL PARK

(07:00) – Breakfast and after:
– Ground transportation to Chingaza National Park
– Welcoming by the team of local guides.
– Hike to the Siecha Lakes circuit (7.5 Kms).
– Outdoors lunch
– Transportation back to Bogotá.
– Dinner and time to rest.

DAY 3GÜEJAR RIVER

(06:00) – Private ground transportation towards Mesetas (Meta) and then:
– Breakfast on the road.
– Arrival to Mesetas and check-in at the ranch in rural area.
– Welcoming by the local hosts and lunch.
– Pick-up on 4×4 cars to places with several waterfalls.
– Time to enjoy several waterfalls at the area.

DAY 4GÜEJAR RIVER

– Optional hikes in order to see different attractions at the place.
– Return to the accommodation and dinner

DAY 5GÜEJAR CANYON

(07:00) – Check out from the hotel, breakfast and then:
– Rafting activity at the Güejar canyon.
– Snacks on the way and time to appreciate wonders like the Titanic rock.

– Private transportation towards Bogotá.
– Dinner on the way and arrival to the hotel.

DAY 6BOGOTÁ

DAY 7LETICIA

(07:30) – Breakfast and then:
(10:30) – Flight from Bogotá to Leticia.
– Welcoming in Leticia & departure to Huitoto`s Maloka at the KM 11 on the road to Tarapacá.
– Check-in at the accommodation in tree houses & Lunch.
– Artisanal fishing activity with indigenous.
– Dinner and night of talk of indigenous knowledge, bonfire & cultural exchange with elders in a “Maloka” (indigenous meeting place).

DAY 8PUERTO NARIÑO

(06:00) – Breakfast, and after that:
– Private boat through the Amazon river and visit of the indigenous communities of Macedonia, the village of Mocagua and the Maikuchiga foundation.

– Arrival to Puerto Nariño & check-in at the hotel
– Visit of the Tarapoto lakes and dolphin sighting.
– Return by boat to Leticia, dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

DAY 9MARASHA RESERVE

(07:00) – Breakfast & check-out of the hotel, and after that:
– Boat transportation towards Marasha Reserve.

– Dinner & night trek in order to see wild fauna of the region such as caimans, other reptiles and insects.

DAY 10MEDELLIN

(05:00) – Optional bird-watching activity.

DAY 13WHALE-WATCHING

– Hike in the jungle in order to attempts to observe fauna such as the true poison-dart frog.

DAY 14UTRIA NATIONAL PARK

(07:00) – Breakfast, and after that:
– Boat ride towards Utria national park (2 hours).
– Guided hike through the mangroves trail and lunch.

– Free time in the afternoon and dinner at the hotel.

RECOMMENDATIONS

– Follow and abide the instructions of the guides during each one of the hikes, treks and activities to be done as some of them are in forests, jungle, mountains and rural areas with certain risks.
– Be prepared with appropriated clothing for the 16 days of the trip in places with different climates, altitudes (from 0 to 3.200 m.a.s.l) and several rural areas where the weather conditions may change unexpectedly.
– Some of the areas to visit are natural reserves, indigenous sites or destinations with special biological importance, so it is necessary to follow local rules and leave the least impact possible and deposit the trash generated in the places disposed for garbage.
– It is important to take cautions against mosquitos and have the vaccination against yellow fever and COVID-19.
– It is important to mention in advance about important illness, allergies and other important health conditions as this is a very active trip and requires a decent physical condition to be done.

PACKING LIST

– Waterproof comfortable clothing for hikes In the Colombian mountains, mountains piedmont, amazon jungle and pacific coast in areas with temperatures that range from 10 to 35 Celsius degrees.
– Long sleeved T-shirts and pants for the hikes in the amazon jungle and pacific in order to avoid scratches with the forest and protect against insects and the sun.
– Mosquito Repellent and sunscreen.
– Appropriated footwear for the hikes. (Waterproof trekking boots are recommended and several pairs of sneakers and shoes for the 16 days trip).
– Swimming suit, towel and sandals as there will be chances to swim in rivers, lakes and the ocean.
– Proper clothes for the cities as many days are spent in big cities with temperatures that range between 12 and 35 Celsius degrees.
– Rigid (not disposable) recipient for refilling water (canteen).
– Caps, fishing hat and/or head protection for the sun.
– Personal medicines.
